Planning and Preparation
Overview
Planning and preparing for an emergency and/or disaster are crucial for an individual’s safety. Emergency preparedness can be summed up with the three “P’s” of emergency planning: plan, prepare and practice.

The information in this section will help you develop your own emergency preparedness plan that incorporates the three “P’s”. The focus is on people with disabilities but is also a valuable resource for those assisting people with disabilities and community emergency planners.

Please note that when starting to create a personal emergency preparedness plan, it can seem overwhelming. It does not have to be done quickly, break it down into small achievable steps so that you can be prepared for an emergency.
